Breast Reduction
Is Breast Reduction Right for Me?
Debilitating pain and discomfort from overly large breasts can impact your ability to participate in sports and wear certain types of clothing. Many women are self-conscious of their large breast size, and breast reduction can alleviate many, if not all, of these symptoms.
Breast reduction can be useful for women of any age who have fully developed breasts.
Who Will Benefit from a Breast Reduction?
Women with large heavy breasts experiencing any of the following problems will benefit from a breast reduction:
- Chronic shoulder pain
- Neck and back pain
- Severe skin irritation below and between the breasts
- Poor posture
- Difficulty to find clothes/underwear that fit properly
- Low self-esteem
- Normal life activities such as exercising and playing sports are negatively affected by large breasts.
The Breast Reduction Procedure
Breast reduction surgery begins with the removal of excess breast tissue from the top and sides of the breast through a series of incisions around the nipples (areolas) to reach the ideal size and shape. We then reposition and center the breast tissue and nipples to achieve a youthful, lifted placement. Some scarring will be concealed in the darker pigment of the areolas while others will fade over time.
The procedure is performed at our surgical facility and takes approximately three hours. No overnight stay is required.
As with any invasive surgery, there are some risks with breast reduction, including infection, bleeding, and poor scarring. The breast reduction procedure overall is a safe and effective way to reduce breast size permanently.
